Ford Ranger servicing & repairs in Eastbourne

Got a Ford Ranger that needs servicing, wet-belt work, an MOT or a mechanical repair? Speak to Phil at P Hampton Motors in Eastbourne. We’ll start with the vehicle details, explain what needs doing and give you a clear price where we can.

Working pickups

Your Ranger works hard. We help keep it that way.

A Ranger is often a work vehicle as much as a pickup — towing, carrying tools and materials, getting to sites.

When it needs servicing or starts doing something it shouldn’t, you want a garage that knows Ford vans and pickups and will explain what’s actually wrong, without the jargon.

That’s what we do for tradespeople, builders, contractors, local businesses and private Ranger owners — including plenty who run a Transit as well.

“Tell us what it's doing and we'll work out what's actually wrong.”

Not sure what's wrong?

You don’t need to diagnose it before you call. Tell Phil what the Ranger is doing, any warning lights you’ve seen and when the problem started.

Ranger wet belts · 2.0 EcoBoost

Got a 2.0 EcoBoost Ranger?

The 2.0 EcoBoost engine in the Ranger uses a timing belt that runs in the engine oil — a wet belt. We understand the 3.0-litre Ranger uses a timing chain instead, so not every Ranger needs this job. Your registration tells us which engine you’ve got.

Ford Ranger wet-belt replacement: £1,100 + VAT on the 2.0 EcoBoost. Phil’s workshop recommendation for wet-belt-equipped vehicles is replacement at five years or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first — his preventative advice, not Ford’s published interval for every model.

Diagnosis before parts

Don't start replacing parts until you know what's wrong.

Symptoms overlap. A loss of power doesn't automatically mean it needs a turbo. A warning light doesn't automatically tell you which component has failed. Guessing tends to cost more than finding out.

Ranger servicing

Keep on top of it while it’s working.

Whether your Ranger is used for work, towing or everyday driving, keeping on top of the right servicing matters. Give Phil the registration and mileage so we can establish which engine and service requirements apply.

Interim: engine oil, oil filter, vehicle check and brake-fluid check. Full: oil and filters (fuel and pollen where fitted), brake, tyre, light and fluid checks, coolant and screen-wash, general checks and greasing where applicable.

Run Rangers and Transits?

If your business runs Rangers alongside Transits or other vans, talk to Phil about looking after them together — one local garage that knows the vehicles.

Phil’s advice

For the relevant wet-belt-equipped vehicles he works on, Phil’s preventative recommendation is to consider replacement at five years or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first.

This is Phil’s workshop recommendation. The manufacturer’s schedule depends on the exact vehicle and engine, so send us your registration and mileage if you’re not sure what applies to yours.
