No need to diagnose it

You don't have to diagnose it yourself.

Most people who ring us don't know the name of the part that's failed, and there's no reason they should.

“You don’t need to turn up knowing which part has failed. Tell us what the van’s doing, when it started and anything you’ve noticed. We’ll take it from there.”

Phil

A strange noise

Humming, knocking, grinding or something that changes with speed.

Oil or fluid where it shouldn't be

A puddle under the van or wet patches in the engine bay.

Loss of power

It won't pull like it did, or it feels flat under load.

Smoke

From the exhaust or from under the bonnet.

A warning light

On the dash and you don't know what it means.

Vibration

Through the wheel, the pedals or the seat.

Hard to start

Turns over for ages, or only starts when it feels like it.

It just doesn't feel right

You know the van. If something's changed, that counts.

Transit mechanical repairs

What we take on.

We concentrate on the mechanical side of your Transit. We don't carry out bodywork or paint repairs.

If what you need isn't on this list, ring and ask rather than assuming — it's a short list of the work we do most, not everything we're capable of.

01General mechanical repairs

The everyday stuff a working van throws up, diagnosed and repaired here rather than passed on.

02Bearings

Humming or droning that changes with road speed. Worth getting in early — it doesn't improve on its own.

03Oil pumps and oil-system repairs

Oil pressure matters more than most things on these engines. Don't drive around with a light on and hope.

04Turbos

Down on power, smoking or making a noise it didn't used to. Symptoms overlap, so we diagnose before ordering anything.

05Exhausts

Blowing, rattling or failed. Repaired or replaced depending on what we find.

How it works

We find the problem, explain it, then fix it.

Diagnosis comes first, and it is worth saying that properly: working out what's actually failed takes time, and on some faults it takes longer than the repair does. Replacing parts on a guess is how bills get big for no reason.

Once we know, we ring you, explain it in plain terms and give you a price. Nothing goes ahead until you've said yes.

01Tell us what's happening

What the van's doing, when it started, anything you've noticed.

02Bring the Transit in

Or ring us about recovery if it isn't going anywhere.

03We investigate

Find the actual fault rather than guessing at parts. That takes a bit of time.

04We explain what it needs

In plain terms, with a price, before anything happens.

05We carry out the agreed repair

And the van goes back to work.

2.0 EcoBlue repairs

Got a 2.0 EcoBlue Transit?

A lot of the vans in the workshop now are 2.0 EcoBlue Transits and Transit Customs, so the mechanical problems owners bring us on those engines are familiar ones.

That doesn't mean every EcoBlue has the same fault — they don't. It means we've usually seen what yours is doing before, and we know where to start looking.

Wet belts

Concerned about your Transit wet belt?

On many 2.0 EcoBlue Transits the timing belt runs inside the engine oil, and its condition matters. We do a lot of this work — there’s a whole page covering what it is, when it’s due and what the job involves.

Older Transits

Older Transit? That's fine too.

Our Transit experience goes back through the generations, not just the current vans. Newer EcoBlue or an older Transit still earning its keep — talk to us about the mechanical problem either way.

Planned maintenance

Want to keep on top of the van before something goes wrong?

Repairs deal with a problem that's already turned up. Servicing is the other way round — keeping on top of a working van so there's less to go wrong in the first place.

Broken down?

Can't get the Transit to us?

We've got our own recovery van. If the van's had a mechanical failure and won't make it to the workshop, ring us — we may be able to fetch it back here for diagnosis and repair.

Working vans

Keeping working vans on the road.

Your Transit has the tools, the materials and the kit in it, and it's how you get from one job to the next. When it develops a problem the job isn't really “repair a vehicle” — it's getting an important part of somebody's business working again.

We won't promise you a same-day miracle. We'll tell you straight what we've found, what it needs and where you stand.

Small fleets

More than one Transit to look after?

If your business runs a few Transits locally, talk to us about servicing and mechanical repairs across the lot of them. One garage that gets to know your vans.

MOT work

Has your Transit MOT highlighted a problem?

If mechanical work has come up, talk to us about the repair. Bodywork isn't something we do, so that one you'll need elsewhere.

Common questions

Repair questions we get asked.

If yours isn't here, ring and describe it. That's usually quicker anyway.

What Ford Transit repairs do you carry out?

General mechanical repairs — including bearings, oil pumps and oil-system work, turbos, exhausts and wet-belt jobs on 2.0 EcoBlue vans. If you're not sure whether yours is something we do, ring and ask.

Do you repair Transit bodywork?

No. We concentrate on the mechanical side — servicing and repairs. We don't do bodywork or paint.

My Transit has lost power. Can you look at it?

Yes. Tell us what it is doing and when it started, and book it in so we can investigate properly.

My Transit is making a strange noise. Do I need to know what's wrong before booking?

No. Describe what you're hearing and when it happens — that's genuinely useful. Working out what it is, is our job.

Do you repair older Ford Transits?

Yes. We work on Transits from across the years, not only the current ones.

Do you work on 2.0 EcoBlue Transits?

Yes — these are an important part of the Transit work here.

Do you do Transit wet belts?

Yes, regularly. There’s a dedicated page covering what the job involves.

My Transit has broken down. Can you collect it?

We've got our own recovery van, so ring us with where it is and what happened and we'll tell you what we can do.

Something not right with your Transit?

Tell us what it's doing and we'll work out the next step. You don't need to know what's wrong with it.

Helpful to know: Registration and current mileage help us establish exactly what vehicle you’ve got, particularly for servicing or a wet belt.
Don’t worry if you don’t know what’s wrong with it. Tell us what the vehicle is doing, any warning messages you’ve seen, noises you’ve noticed and when the problem started.
